Computer Crash and Selling Books at El Tour De Tucson
November 16th, 2008
Hello friends of DownTheRoad.org:
Last week our computer would not
start up, when I tried to turn on the machine nothing happened, not even a
light. After trying to fix it we soon gave up and bought a new one.
We have been carrying the same laptop for the last 5 years of our trip (not bad)
and it was time to replace it anyway. Switching computers is very
disruptive to our email communication so please write again if we have not
responded in a while. Better yet, leave you comments on this blog post
which are much easier for us to respond to.
At the same time
we decided to hop a train from the west coast to Tucson, Arizona to attend the
El Tour De Tucson Bike and Health Expo. After we arrived in Tucson and
rushed around to the big electronic super stores and quickly bought a tiny
laptop for US$400 with plans of buying an additional main laptop, that is able
to mix video and manipulate large files, in the near future. Cindie and I
compete for the computer to get our work done so a second laptop would help
greatly for our ever growing work flow.
So to all our
friends who live in Arizona or plan to go to El Tour, we will have a booth and
be meeting people and selling books for all three days of the El Tour De Tuscon
Bike and Health Expo and probably be hanging around the finish line the day of
the ride/race. We realize that most of you live to far away to make this
but, if you are in the area, come by our booth and say hello, it has been a long
time.
Just before the old computer died I
put together a quick five minute video that is a combination of the audio of our
recent interview with Roger Wendel KGNU and some pictures that loosely go along
with it.
