Tim and Cindie at a Chinese Temple. Photo by David.

Tim with local kids, they are brother and sisters. The girls changed
clothes before the photo, how sweet. |

Tim connected our laptop computer and working on adding photos to
www.DownTheRoad.org

Cindie helps the kids with their math homework. 2 + 3 = 5 in all
languages.

Cindie and her new friends.

David's kids (Yugen and Shanti) exploring our laptop. It is amazing how the computer can
bridge language and cultural differences.

He is from Malaysia and she is from Indonesia. We met them thru David. |

The newly wed bride and groom, those red roses are fresh.

Malaysian Chinese Fishing Village and Party.
(April 27, 2006)

All the boats are in from the sea during the day and they fish at night.

An offering to the gods, people live next to the boat dock.

Fishing nets, baby toys, it is home to the fisherman.

Fresh caught fish being transported to restaurants. |

Ah collecting the days wage.

View of the fishing village, the blue building is for raising sparrows that make
birds nests that are a Chinese delicacy, yes the bird's nest are eaten.

Prawns by the bucket.

to drink. |

Going up the coconut tree to collect the Toddy, a fresh tasting alcohol. |

Chinese Temple of Heaven and Hell.(April, 2006)

Chinese Temple in Malaysia. This temple has over 2,000 active members.

Cindie and David are ringing the bells and beating the drums to wake up the
gods.

Judgment day, this when your life is reviewed and judgment is passed.

This mans torture is getting a blade run through him. These statues
are life size and would scare any kid I know.

These two are being put in a pot by the green monster and another to the
side is getting his heart ripped out. He must have been really bad
during his life on earth. |

The garden area.

The gates of hell, the Chinese version.

Hell is a terrible place, this man is getting his head sawed in half.

Cindie with the gate keeper of hell. Once your in you can never come
out.

Tim and Cindie at the Chinese version of heaven. Photo by David. |
Malaysian Indian Hindu Temples and Religious Ceremony.(April, 2006)

The gate and bell tower outside and Indian Temple dedicated to women.

A peacock and three Indian gods. A statue at an Indian temple.

Tim, Cindie and Mr. Ong enjoying a meal at the Indian temple. Note we are
eating with our hands. Tim and I are left handed but changed to our right hand
to eat. It does feel a bit awkward and goes against everything we are taught as
a kid. |

Tim and Cindie with the kids at an Indian Temple. The red dot is placed
over the third eye after prayer. First a type of butter is dabbed on the
forehead and then red turmeric powder is dabbed in the same place.

This is a different Indian temple. Meat is eaten at this temple and goats
are sacrificed at this alter.

The sacred cow. The giver of life. Not the milk from the utters. Now I
understand why the cow is sacred in India.

Offerings to the gods are made during a wedding ceremony at the Indian Temple.. |
