Cindie & Tim,
Well done on the second book - as per all the excellent advice already here - ignore the armchair internet forum bashers. Interesting how so many of them (supposed cyclists) have pictures of big fat cars under their names...
Don't let them spoil your journey - your both a huge inspiration to so many.

Tim & Cindie:
I read your first book in 2 days following each step in google earth. This is a wanderfull book , but the must I liked is the spiritual charisma you two have, and you transfer your feelings to the lector. I really felt everything, along the trip I laught, cry and pray for our people around the world.
I born in Ecuador, I live in Puerto Rico, and I anxious to star Down the road y South America.

Good luck I will follow your steps.
Thanks for your dedication and love to the people

Hey guys
We met in Fort Stevens. We've been on the road for two years...going for three more...tour.tk...you got a bus. card from us...remember?

Well just wanted to say, keep the chin up. Your doing what a lot of people always dream of but haven't got the guts to do. They vent their frustration by joining forums and posting bitchy comments. That's how they get off!

You can rest assure, they have no idea what it is like to travel continuously for such a period of time. It's hard work. Mostly enjoyable, but also very challenging and sometimes (only sometimes) completely horrendous.

Unfortunately, your triumphant feelings of finishing your book and finally getting back on the road were not met with the enthusiasm you expected. Luckily forums are such a puny part of society and to be honest I wouldn't even associate them with the "real world".

The real world is where you are riding to and through.

So here it is from us. Well done. Congratulations and nothing but safe and healthy travels with lots of tailwind....

Who knows, maybe we'll meet up somewhere else in this wonderful world

Cheers

Hi Tim & Cindy,
Like FThomas Deb and I are older (um 50+ is a nice way of saying it) and we too have enjoyed every aspect of your website. We haven't ordered either of your books as yet but we intend to do so. We are just beginning to enjoy our Tandem and are seriously considering Bike camping on it and although your site makes no mention of Tandems all of your kindness to the bike/touring/camping community by sharing your incredible experiences are inspiring.
I have participated in several "Forums" and find them all to be pretty much the same. They have several people who seem to live to denigrate others, holding themselves up as the learned few who not only hold all the answers but whose opinion is the only one that matters. These people are the ones who do not actually "do" what the forum is specifically about but only "talk", criticize and rant without having much personal experience. Their comments are nearly always rude, shallow and obviously spit out without thought.
You are well known on the internet as people who share their experiences and we find it refreshing that you have found a way to support yourselves by doing so. Many kudo's to you and know that the only ones that criticize your endeavor are those that wish they had enough courage and intelligence to do it themselves and do so out of sheer jealousy. If you are ever touring through North Carolina, please, please come and stay with us for a couple of days, a week, or just to shower and have a great meal on your way through. Utmost respect, live the dream...ken&debbie

Yo guys,
Twas great meeting you guys on the road. The biketosurfgang all made it back home in one piece. We heard from other people down the road that we were just behind you guys. We were hoping to run into you two again, but alas your pace was too swift, or ours to leisurely. Maybe in S.C. we will reunite. I have been digging your webpage and realized that I had looked at it to glean some information before we left. Totally cool. I hope all is good with yalls. Keep on spreading the love.

Just want to say that I enjoy reading of your travels and experiences, you really inspire me! I have been to China and Japan but would not have the courage to bike it and camp alone and just see where the road takes you. You are fearless and doing what others only dream of doing. DO NOT LISTEN TO ANY NEGATIVE COMMENTS! Those people are jealous that they are not living this life! Happy trails to you and I will continue to follow your journey.

Tim and Cindy

Cindy - Shingles OUCH!

Best wishes from S. California. I too have experienced the wrath of Bikeforum Bullies and frankly don't waste much time there anymore with the exception of the occasional visit to the 50+ thread (I'm an old guy) where civility still seems to rule. It is a shame, but the loss of your participation is to the civil participants of the forums and not yours.

I admire both of you for your dedication to touring and your experience - more than the majority of us will accumulate in a life time! Your books are great and your web site I believe reflects both of your personalities gleaned from reading your books, which I have really enjoyed.

Sent you an email and welcome a visit in Sunny S. California!

God's Speed!

I love your website! My girlfriend and I are planning for a long (until we run out of money) Mediterranean bike tour as soon as we both graduate and all the knowledge here has been invaluable. I thought I knew a lot about cycling but turns out racing and touring aren't quite the same ;)

Also, a quick note about bikeforums.net (where I am a member) - you guys should do you best to just ignore the negative posts there. It is so easy for some people to hide behind their user name and blast away. It's like highschool all over again over there, with the cliques, the cool kids, and the smart kids (you guys) some people just can't help but pick on. Pretty sad.

Anyway, thanks again for all the fantastic information on your website and your blog, you two truly are a great resource!

Hello! I want you to know that my friend Marla and i did a lot of research using your info to prepare for our last trip from Vancouver to Mexico.
We are now back in the daily grind of rent paying and city commuting. We often reminisce of our dreamy existence on bicycles and are always planning the next leg.
I live in Vancouver and have a lot of space if you need a place to stay. Please stay!
It is unfortunate about the online negative nancys, but you know, they are just jealous because they dont have the balls to live an adventure half as exciting as yours!
